ACROBA's microcomputer-controlled, dual-pump, dual-motor, left-right independent hydrostatic drive system (HST) allows such unprecedented advances in movement as straight sideways drive and pivot turns, thereby greatly improving stock handling efficiency in narrow spaces.

Whereas with conventional drive systems stability is poor under conditions which hinder proper transference of power, such as in take-off on wet or bumpy surfaces, ACROBA's HST drive system eliminates such shortcomings to allow speedy take-off on all surfaces and greatly improved overall driving performance.

With its separation of the power and drive mechanisms, ACROBA's HST drive system effects a considerable reduction in vibration and noise, and the refore an improved operating environment. Furthermore, while a conventional drive system has a total of 550 parts, this one requires just 100, a marked reduction that means excellent serviceability.

In conventional models, the brakes must be applied on slopes both to prevent back-rolling when stopped on an upward slope and to reduce speed on descent. In the ACROBA, however, drive power is transferred from the HST pumps to the drive wheels hydraulically, so that releasing the accelerator produces hydraulic resistance. This means that, even without braking, ACROBA will not back-roll when stopped on an upward incline, and on descent the need for braking is eliminated because speed can be regulated with the accelerator pedal alone.

Because ACROBA's drive power is transferred hydraulically rather than in the conventional way from the transmission or differential, it offers steady, smooth driving with minimal mechanical shaking or vibration. The system also ensures stability at very low speeds, thus minimizing the risk of loads falling off and providing improved control and efficiency in all carrying and loading operations.
